Angela Herbert-Hodges Grew up in the North-West of England, and was an Athlete from an early age. Competing in Field Hockey, Netball, and Athletics, coming 5th in the English Schools Athletic Championships for Discus. In fencing placing 2nd in the English Schoolgirls Championships in London.

Thereafter, she was invited to join the Under-20 Training Squad, in London. This required competing regularly in the Europe and all over the UK.

She took up residence in London, working as a Cordon Bleu Chef. Fencing at Salle Boston, and training with Prof. Steve Boston, who had a Premier Fencing Club as the time.

Herbert-Hodges was invited onto the Olympic Training Squad for 1972 and 1976, and fencing in the World Cup Competitions. This required a gruelling competition schedule, both in the UK and Europe, whilst also earning a living.

She took a 10yr break from Training to focus on other aspects of life.

Beginning to fence in the USA, she began winning regional Tournaments in Baltimore, Washington and Philadelphia. Herbert-Hodges won the Women's Veterans Foil Championships in 1992 and 1996. She represented the USA in 1995 in the Veterans 5 nation Competition in Florida.

Since becoming a Coach, Herbert-Hodges has graduated from the Coaches College at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO. Attended clinics with Alex Beguinet, Nazlymov, Loset Vitebsky, Ed Korfanty, Dave Littell and Andy Ma.
